Shunting work

This is the movement of rolling stock within the station. Such a service is provided to production enterprises, the activity of which in one way or another is connected with the receipt of railway cars at their address for their further loading or unloading.

The provision of shunting services involves not only the direct rental of rolling stock but also a number of necessary related services such as:

  • Providing qualified crews of drivers
  • Implementation of traction calculation to determine the type and schedule of leased locomotives;
  • Providing the necessary documents to state controlling organizations.

Delivery & removal of cars along the frontlines of cargo loading

This is relocation of loaded or empty cars from non-public railways to public ones and back.

Cars are delivered to the so-called loading and unloading fronts with further return of loaded or unloaded cars to a railway station.

Basically, the amount of payment for the supply and removal of cars is determined by the distance of supply-cleaning of cars, which is calculated based on the length of the railway from the station to the place of unloading. In this case, the feed-cleaning distance of the cars is rounded to the kilometer.

PROCEDURE FOR SUBMISSION OF CLEANING OF CARS

Feeding and cleaning of cars on public tracks is carried out in accordance with the intra-station schedule. As a rule, the supply-cleaning, placement of cars on the front of unloading or loading is carried out at night. If it is necessary to move the cars from one front of the work to another, shunting works are performed to rearrange the cars. Thus giving-cleaning of cars on a track of the general use is carried out in the presence of the transceiver of a cargo yard.

The procedure for filing cleaning of wagons on non-public roads is determined by the contract for operation of non-public roads or the contract on supply-cleaning of wagons. Both types of contracts are between the carrier (contractor) and the owner or user of the route (customer). Details of the contract for this type of work can be found here and here.

IMPORTANT: when changing the owner / user of a non-common track, as well as when putting into operation of new railway tracks, the procedure for filing the cleaning of cars is prescribed individually for a specific customer in the Instructions for shunting work.

ARRANGEMENT AND CLEANING OF WAGONS ON THE FRONTS OF LOADING-UNLOADING:

  • by order of the shunting dispatcher, the train assembler selects cars at the supply points, taking into account the minimum cost of shunting means and time;
  • wagons that require a lot of time for freight operations are placed on dead-end roads closer to the stop;
  • wagons, the performance of freight operations on which do not require much time, are placed on the through railways in front of the course;
  • arrangement of cars with containers and small packages is carried out at the request of the transceiver, based on the specialization of loading and sorting platforms;
  • the placement of empty cars is carried out taking into account that after the completion of freight operations and cleaning of loaded cars the formation of the train did not take much time;
  • the supply of the shunting locomotive is combined with the return of cars from the unloading-loading fronts;
  • after the shunting dispatcher receives a notification from the consignee about the readiness of the wagons for assembly, the compiler is instructed to return the wagons from the freight fronts;
  • the transferor draws up an act in the form of GU-45 “Cleaning of cars”.
